The Meat Loaf

My first adventure with the recipe boxes started with a meat loaf. A meat loaf is pretty traditional, at the same time it can have different styles. So where I began was looking for the recipe, I looked through many of my recipe boxes that have collected so far, I was a bit disappointed when I did not come across a handwritten recipe. So I keep looking through all my goodies and came across one!

 I found this booklet at an estate sale here in Dallas. I tried to do some background on this book via internet. There was not much about that hospital, this book was published in the 1980s. The booklet is really fascinating, as there is a recipe from employees at the hospital, the booklet was made to raise money

Like title page states, recipes are a labor of love, and its important to admire the history that they come from. 

Looking through this booklet was really interesting. Each recipe had the name of the staff member and their department. There was a staff member from food services that had multiple recipes in the booklet. Continuing on the journey for meatloaf, I came across...

And there it was a recipe for the glorious dish of meatloaf

I think I should back up a little bit, and tell you why I started with meatloaf. My friend it was her birthday and she loves meatloaf, pretty simple explanation . However she describes meatloaf with joy and a reminder of home cooked meals, additionally she views herself as "grandma" like and meatloaf fits her to the tea.

Unfortunately my conclusion to this story is poor, I do not have a picture of the finished product. However as this adventure continues I will learn and grow through this process. I can conclude that the meatloaf was very very tasty.
